I’m going to keep it very simple today in regards to how to make money from your website. It’s really not a big secret or anything that will really blow you away, but it is something that people need to keep in mind when building their website.
**In order to make money from a website you have to provide solutions for people who need them**
Now, some people may say that’s not all you need… you need to build backlinks, you need to have good copywriting, you need to brand your site, but I am here to remind you that in the simplest terms, provide a solution for people and you can make money from a website. We aren’t going to go into marketing or getting traffic right now b/c even if you market your site and get it ranking #1 for some awesome keywords or you have over 1000 visitors a day, if you don’t provide a solution for people you aren’t going to make money.
Some people tend to over complicate the whole providing a solution for people. It’s really not that hard to figure out.
I would say that 99% of the people who enter in a search into the Google search box have a problem and need a solution. I’m not just talking about people who on the surface have a real problem such as they want to know how to get rid of acne or learn how to pick up women. No, a simple search for “baby activity mats” represents a problem. This person is looking for a baby activity mat so to solve their problem, give them a site that offers the best baby activity mats and put some affiliate links on it to the products. You just solved their problem and made some money.
Monetizing Your Solution on Your Site
There are definitely some solutions that are easier to monetize and more profitable than others.
For example if a person is looking to lose weight you could offer links to diet programs like Weight Watchers, give links to popular books on losing weight, or offer your recommendations for the best exercise equipment or workout videos. (This is the very reason why the weight loss niche is so competitive) On the other a person looking to learn how to take care of a hydrangea plant wants or wants to learn how to transplant a rose bush may not be willing to buy anything, so links to books or affiliate offers may not make you any money.
This is definitely something you should look at once you have decided what solution you want to provide to your audience. That doesn’t mean that the gardening niche isn’t profitable or you can only make money in the weight loss niche. It just means you have to look at the solution you are providing and determine the very best way that you can monetize it.
